Foils are a few microns to a few hundred microns thick (larger thinknesses are available as copper sheets). Foils are available in a variety of copper and copper alloy materials. Foil is produced by rolling or electrodeposition.
note: Typical foil thickness: 2 to 200 micron. The thinnest foils of a few microns can't be shipped easily over long distances, and need to be regionally produced. A large-scale battery manufacturing plant needs nearby supply of a copper foil producer.
